From a Pair of Trousers to a New Narrative

A small printed garment collection conveying the story and concept of my collection. It includes three main looks; printed fabric samples, a booklet and photographs displaying my visualisations and a photograph shoot of my final collection, a concept collaboration film, displayed on a flat screen and a two-piece textile orientated garment collaboration collection.

  • My collection is about storytelling through print: a personal project that explores print within the body and the space around you. Using techniques from other art forms to provide a fresh perspective on the print process, I have explored how personal and collective identities can be conveyed through dress. Painted brushstrokes and photography are two new sources that introduce an element of surprise into more traditional print processes. Projection and performance have been ways of developing this into spatial and immersive outputs. The movement that is unleashed through this process has in turn informed the subtle sculptural form of the garments that the textiles culminate in. My work is not only a collection but an experience that I want people to immerse themselves in.
