Tiipek: Programmable Bindings

From Buttons to Velcro, every single type of mechanical binding in the market either requires precision to 'do-up' or force to 'un-do'. Precision or force. Are those really our only two options? For some segments of the population, this represents a problem.

Tiipek is the result of an investigation that looks into doing with as little as possible of either.

Inspired by the same phenomenon that helps the remora attach and detatch to a shark without damaging the host, it shows an initial series of permutations in the geometry where the release occurs with ease when under a specific motion.
