Can memories be copyrighted? If so, I’m guilty of stealing somebody else’s experiences. I wonder… does thinking about them hard, trying to relive them in my head, and finally collaging them with my own memories make them become a little bit mine?

Born years after the Second World War and too late to consciously participate in the fall of communism, I never witnessed these events; still they have heavily influenced my biography. I inherited a burden of unbearable desire to experience the horrors of the past – and a strong feeling of obligation to prevent them from happening again.
