Well.B
Well.B is a wearable device which aims to continuously collect information about a person's current bodily state, in order to increase the chances of identifying cardiovascular diseases (CVD) at an early stage. The device measures a key set of vitals which are frequently listed as early precursors of CVD. These include heart rate, temperature, blood pressure, electrocardiography (ECG), oxygen saturation and respiration rate.Â
Cardiovascular diseases are one of the major causes of death worldwide, with around 17.7 million deaths annually. Approximately 160,000 people die from CVD in the UK alone. It has been suggested that every third person with heart disease is misdiagnosed, resulting in approximately 54,000 CVD misdiagnoses annually. Even though these diagnoses were ultimately changed after a period of time, the survival rates of those who were given the wrong diagnosis to begin with were 20% lower. Well.B would provide doctors with more information to base their diagnosis on, which should reduce the number of wrong initial diagnoses related to CVD and, ultimately, the number of premature deaths.

Designer of innovative and useful products. I enjoy working on challenging projects informed through research and led by purpose. Versatile understanding of materials and processes, with a passion for continuous learning. My interests and specialism lies in emerging future aspects of design, more specifically in coding and interactive products/services. I am currently working in this field as a hackSpace Technician for Kingston School of Art, supporting and consulting on physical computing with Arduino. I am continuously expanding my passion for technology by working as a hackSpace & Digital Media Workshop at Kingston School of Art.
