Transformation
This collection called, Transformation, is a collection of textiles designed for womenswear SS2020. The initial idea came from my dissertation, where I argued that the use of social media can be considered a craft. My take on craft is something that is mastered through time, and done through careful consideration. I am interested in the way individuals curate their own personas and present themselves to the public.
Living in the social media age, we are essentially reducing ourselves to pixel images, developing a new kind of visual language representation in the digital age. In this collection I explore transformation through colour, print and shape – creating textiles that challenge traditional notions of print, to create textiles that are more dynamic, tactile and three-dimensional, which can be used to sculpt the body and inform the shape of garments, through tradition fabric manipulation.
