Major project:
Taboo Beauty
Rosanna's MA collection Taboo Beauty showcases lengths of fabric- – each piece exploring a different narrative – questioning societal perceptions of beauty, how it can be misleading, and in many cases dangerous.
A big part of the inspiration for her dissertation and final MA project stemmed from Julia Kristeva’s Powers of Horror, in which she explores the ‘abject’ and our reactions of disgust towards various subjects – questioning whether it is innate or whether it is societally imposed.

Rosanna Bishop is a printed textile designer based in London, with a passion for unique, illustrative designs, and creating innovative textiles by combining traditional techniques – such as screen printing – with less conventional materials and processes.
A big part of the inspiration for her dissertation and final MA project stemmed from Julia Kristeva’s book, Powers of Horror, in which she explores the ‘abject’ and our reactions of disgust towards various subjects – questioning whether it is innate or whether it is societally imposed.
The collection as a whole is titled Taboo Beauty, and each print is designed to test or question what we perceive to be beautiful, and what we perceive to be 'taboo' – whether changing the context can change these perceptions. The collection aims to test this by letting the research either inform the process of creating the fabric itself (the more tactile elements), or whether it informs the narrative of the print.
