Her current collection creates a sense of intimacy and memory. Many of her works were inspired by the images of lively atmospheres, and the intimate emotions evoked by recollections of her life.
The smell of street food on a hot summer night; the buzzing sound of people walking through the suburbs; the safety of the knowledge that you will soon be home enjoying an evening meal with your family. These Yan-ho-chee moments are traced, recorded and reimagined, as Huanlin paints or weaves. The warm and lively atmosphere from these daily scenes soothes Huanlin’s anxiety and allows her to reflect on the moments that have impacted her life. She wants to encourage people to create their moments of happiness through her products.
From sheer silk organza, Devore silk fabric to medium weight jacquard – Huanlin is trying to invent a 'smoky' language to depict the two sides of Yan-ho-chee – the warm soothing side, and the troublesome worrying side; representing the burden of emotional bonds. She explores the sentimental methods of intuitive painting and irregular weaving. Varied transparencies, layering and hand-painting were combined to capture the emotional bond of family, friends, personal experiences, and cherished objects, which shape the individual.

Huanlin is a fashion textile designer specialising in luxury woven and printed fabrics. Her research interests lay in emotion, literature, memories, nature, and the textile-making process. She records the impermanent beauty of everyday life, and transfers her feelings to textiles – creating the effect of subtlety and a sense of soothing calmness.
With a textile design and engineering background, her passion lay in creating textiles that provide an aesthetically inspiring experience. She believes that the Royal College of Art can provide her this pathway. During these two years at RCA, she came to understand textile design principles, and has developed professionalism.
