Major project:

APOLLO

Redesigning the health review for patients with longterm conditions

There are 15 million people in the UK with longterm conditions. They are the most frequent users of health care services, accounting for 50 per cent of all GP appointments, with 70 per cent of the total health and social care expenditure being spent on their treatment and care.

Self-management is particularly important among this patient group, as they spend less than one per cent of their time in contact with health care professionals. Health reviews are viewed as a proactive approach to care, complementing existing self-management strategies.

Apollo is a digital service, which allows people with longterm conditions to complete their health review in an easy and flexible way, helping them to play a more active role in their health.

Apollo was initially designed to replace the annual asthma review amongst patients with well controlled symptoms. It is flexible and easy to use, personalised, provides a consistent experience, and promotes learning.

For healthcare professionals, it provides a broader and more accurate picture of how patients are managing their health condition, and also has financial and time benefits.

Info

  • I’m Jieun Lee, an experience and service designer.

I previously studied graphic design and communication at Chelsea College of Art and Design (University of Arts London).

I am a visual thinker and love to be a creative person. I always believed design can help people to have a better experience. I am interested in people's behaviour, and how service can improve and change. I love finding insight and simplifying the problem from a complex area and system, which lead to helping create a tailored solution for the users.

I've recently done live brief projects with various clients about understanding how new technologies will interact with people in the future; sharing mobility services with Jaguar and Land Rover, and designing morning experience for Gen Z, with Belmond Hotel group and Ministry of Justice. I am currently working on a final project for redesigning review systems for longterm condition patients.
