Major project:
Chew by Chu
Chew by Chu questions the definition of a fashion accessory item in the context of food and its system of transportation. The collection re-appropriates mass produced kitchenware, while utilising both handcrafted processes and technology, such as resin casting, 3D printing, laser cutting and traditional leather techniques in bag making. By associating our bodies with anonymous designs, such as a juicer, a water bottle cap and a funnel, this collection emphasises on its humorous translation that encourages re-imagination of our everyday mundane household objects.

Clara Chu is a London and Hong Kong based fashion accessories designer. Her recent collection Chew by Chu has taken inspiration from various types of food packagings and its system of transportation, mimicking textures of edibles, such as jellies and glass candies. Re-appropriating the mass produced with the handcrafted, utilising processes such as resin and silicone moulding and castings, 3D printing and traditional leather techniques in bag making.
