Show RCA 2019

Major project:

Info

  • My MA work aims towards the development of a future tailoring direction, defined by sonic welding and taping technology.

The outerwear pieces that I have produced are cut from side-profile and fold completely flat. These pieces are constructed without sewing, offering cross-sections of an aesthetic that is razor sharp, structured and lightweight.

Through the removal of canvasing, pad-stitching and interlinings these pieces offer side-on perspectives to the traditional. This work equally collapses the material frameworks that shape our ideals of 'value' and 'luxury' within fashion. Taking inspiration from everyday objects, such as single-use Hoover bags and rubber doorstops, my process considers the beauty in the banal; combining elements of luxury and the lo-fi as one.
