Life Support Equipment
Life Support Equipment
Major project:
Burnout
Burnout is a critical design project describing a dystopian hospital A&E, where nurses are required to use life support equipment to enable them to work longer. This ultra-efficient working condition may seem inhumane, but society today already puts nurses’ lives and patients’ lives on the same scale, and determines that the latter are more important.
According to Byung-Chui Han in The Burnout Society, 'in the course of general acceleration and hyperactivity we are also losing the capacity for rage'. The purpose of these props is to empower the lower hierarchy staff in hospitals to speak up about their labour rights and to facilitate a dialogue around this ethical issue.
