Show RCA 2019

Min Zhang

Show RCA work

Major project:

The Door is Open

I am always amazed by the period of my childhood when I could use my imagination to access another parallel reality. I remember I always wanted to invite a white-grey horse, from the TV programme The World of Animals, to stay in my bathroom when I was four; giving her a name and becoming her hairdresser. The Door is Open is a project that aims to help adults reclaim imagination and spontaneity by inviting the audiences to use their imagination to generate various narratives through playing the interactive installations or rearranging the moveable parts.

Info

  • Min Zhang is a Chinese-born visual artist whose work explores the nature of relationships through the use of a wide range of media; including sculpture, installation, painting, and mural. Min’s works are defined by pared down and simplified form and colour, blurring the boundaries of figuration and abstraction, imagination and reality.  She finds inspiration in the mundane and overlooked everyday objects. Her clean language conveys multiple layers of interpretation.
