Major project:
More Than A Bath
My thesis project aims to explore and blur the boundary between work and leisure in the contemporary city. The project began with the relationship between bathing and working, tracing back through history: for Romans, bathing was both a social event and always related to their work. The communal bath, as well as being a social institution, provided people with a gathering place for trading, exchanging and sharing.
As for work itself, the way we work is evolving, with London now being a centre for some of the world’s leading startups. The demand for creative and modern office space has rocketed. Responding to that current situation, I proposed a public bath mixed with a communal workspace in Bethnal Green.
