My work explores unease within the organised contemporary domestic. I am interested in the out-of-place, the pieces of human detritus that collect around the edges of a space. Disorder that pushes up against or permeates through the boundaries of our homes. I make a backdrop, a faked fragment referencing a domestic interior, and to this I introduce a disturbance. The wet sharp echo of an egg cracked, then prised apart, or the sickly-sweet scent of synthetic blueberry. Taking ordinary objects and subverting them, asking 'is everything okay here?', I explore something ‘slightly off’ and the supernatural space between uncertainty and confirmation.
