Show RCA 2019

Lucy Hutchinson

Show RCA work

Major project:

Act 1, Constructing the Powerhouse

Act 1, Constructing the Powerhouse is a computer animated video which acts as a starting point for a larger project informed by research which Lucy has undertaken during her time at the RCA.

The work draws connections between regionalism, printmaking, biotechnology and magic through using multiple voices and perspectives. It combines fact, fiction and propaganda to create a speculative future based in the North of England.

  • Lucy Hutchinson has a research-based practice which often considers social histories and futures through multiple voices and viewpoints.

Much of her work looks at how histories are repeated and mutate whilst searching for alternative tools which challenge dominant narratives.

Her practice develops primarily through drawing but expands into computer generated animation, 3D printing, etching and writing.
