Major project:
The Peak of the Curve
The Peak of the Curve is a multimedia operatic installation that documents a dystopian speculative future, depicting human survival against an immensely profitable pharmaceutical industry and deteriorating healthcare. A future mutated by relentless opioid indoctrination, severe chronic pain and a life destroying dependancy for an over-prescribed legal narcotic plague. A government favouring profit over patient safety, that continues to restructure public healthcare services, into a private, highly priced industry.
The installation features storytelling realised in multiple mediums that includes print, moving image, animation, prosthetics, sound, sculpture and a life-size audio animatronic performing live.

The documentation of a prop – or a set whilst in use, or vacant – establishes new narratives that can be more compelling than their intended use. The record of a tool that becomes an artefact from past performance, after it has served its initial purpose. Documentation can be sincere or intentionally deceptive, provoking the viewer to question the context of the scene, ensuring these relics survive to function on their own.
Incorporating influences from movie production, themed entertainment and healthcare industries within my practice, I advocate the process of mass reproduction and the desire for the multiple. Manufacturing at the demand of the consumer, the multiple object, the identical experience, or the prospect of equality. Dissecting these industries with science fiction exploration and branching across multiple mediums, I render speculative visions of the future, using super-fiction storytelling that is grounded in factual research and reproductive processes.
