A Sunbeam Lent to Us Too Briefly
Now, and never again.
Can little events, ordinary things, smashed and reconstituted, be imbued with new meaning?
Inspiration is taken from Gustave Flaubert, to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, exploring the overlap between documentary and artistic intentions. Floating in the world-as-it-is, the project aims to capture and isolate a situation which might come across as banal but actually is true to what lived life is like. It is by looking for the traces of human behaviour and the natural world in the hidden that beautiful things emerge as a reflection lying underneath in unconscious mind.
In the meantime, light and shadow play a very significant place in the work, not only because the shade stands for the dilapidated and abandoned, but also because it forms an edge between bright and dark which gives a deeper sense to exploring marginal culture.
Light is a river, never to return.
You couldn’t see the river from the window anymore. (Arundhati Roy, 1997)
