Show RCA 2019

Show RCA work

Major project:

The Uncanny

My current working practice is looking into the concerns of the fundamentals of 'the glitch' and the underlying damaging potential it has for our future and technology. It has developed into an installation that presents the concerns in a more subliminal way but also connects to our culture and technology. We are, of course, very dependent on technology, which has brought great advancement but is vulnerable to cyberattacks and other things that show the fragility of our technology, 'the glitch' being an aspect of this. The works are digitally created and realised through layers and texture. The digital process changes the materiality of the work; it becomes immersive but also intrudes into the physical space and reforms it, creating a new space and experience.

Info

  • I am a multi-disciplinary artist who works in video and photography. My current focus lies with the future of technology and the effects it could have. The idea of how our digital systems structure our lives and constantly repeat the same logic to us; that there is this idea of lost space between reality and the digital giving a sense of greater collapse. The conversation about the digital and the digital space, how art is evolving and what the future holds, is what I explore through large scale manipulation and deconstruction of images from media platforms and my own work. I also experiment with the use of sound – both ambient and voice – to enhance meaning in the work.
