Show RCA 2019

Emma Angold

Show RCA work

Major project:

Extremities

Extremities is Emma Angold’s most recent body of work. It is an exploration of bodies. An exploration of intimacy. An exploration of gravity. Each pose constructed using bodies as building blocks. The disembodied limbs in the photographs are contorted, disoriented, entangled. People move together, connecting and becoming indistinguishable. In her installation, the artist creates a universe, a universe free from the limitations of our Earth. Free from the limitations of gravity. Photographs are choreographed onto the walls. Bringing the disjointed fragments together into one movement.

Info

  • Emma Angold works primarily in the black and white medium of photography. Throughout her career, she has dedicated herself to exploring interhuman relationships. In her newest works, she studies the body’s physicality and how it can be used as a building block within choreographies. Prior to this, she developed square object-portraits during her early life in Southern California. Her work focused on themes of abandonment and consciousness, and highlighted the significance of discarded matter as a silent witness, standing as a metaphor for interhuman relationships.
