Show RCA 2019

Susan Rocklin

Show RCA work

Major project:

Faded Arcadia

The work – a loosely tethered diptych – hints at an Arcadia that is nearly, but not quite, realised. The paintings are engaged in a whispered conversation.

Info

  • My paintings are about ephemerality. I make images and atmospheres that are layered, tentative and transient. Often using animals as avatars, I explore notions of vulnerability and strength, particularly in relation to the feminine. Colour and the materiality of paint are intrinsic to my practice. While oil paint is my primary medium, I also use watercolour as a preliminary exploratory tool. My work invokes the luminosity of film and the intensity of poetry.
