London Cycling Network
A set of alternative and personalised routes for cyclists of all levels with a strong focus on safety. Supported by community and powered by users.
By 2026, London wants to become a world leader in cycling culture. Through this “cycling revolution”, The Mayor’s Vision aims to reach a 400 per cent increase in the number of cyclists. How can they all enjoy their journeys safely whilst dealing with key elements, such as limited road width and congestion? This project believes it could be achieved through better information, a more inclusive infrastructure for cyclists, and stronger connections with local communities. The London Cycling Network is a virtual and physical platform providing support for cyclists to plan, navigate and enjoy their cycling journey.
It uses three route categories proposed throughout London, an app and a pocket-sized map, so that cyclists can opt for a journey tailored to their specific needs. In the streets, cyclists will be supported with guiding signage and cycling hubs that provide resting and parking spaces near the core of local communities.
The network creates spaces for cycling, whilst respecting road users as well as valuing and connecting communities. London is a vibrant metropolis full of opportunities, let’s use it as a catalyst to turn cycling into a more personal way of moving around the capital.
