Footwear, Accessories & Millinery Specialisms
Online applications are now open. Apply here.
Since 1996, the Footwear, Accessories and Millinery fashion specialisms have evolved into a unique creative, avant-garde design studio.
With their own dedicated workshop, machinery and cutting area, the Footwear, Accessories and Millinery specialisms offer students the platform to explore traditional craftsmanship alongside developing their own design aesthetic. Students are encouraged by dedicated technicians and master craftsmen, to meet the ever-changing needs of these niche industries; experimenting and moving between the disciplines in the School of Material to find collaborators and develop new materials and techniques for designing the future of footwear and contemporary accessories.
The specialisms offer up unique opportunities at the highest possible level within the world of fashion, art science and technology (working with Camper, Melissa, Adidas and other leading fashion houses), to enquire into anatomy and what the body holds for design. This leads to in-depth investigations across multiple disciplines within the RCA and beyond: partnering with Imperial College London, the Science Museum and the Architectural Association, among others.
Current students will follow in the footsteps of Georgina Goodman, Camilla Skovgaard, Chau Har Lee, Laura Amstein, Victoria Spruce and Sophia Webster and Tarik Mahmoud. Recent graduates have found work at Tom Ford, Issey Miyake and Charlotte Olympia.
Candidates apply to one of the two established Fashion programmes but are situated as a Footwear, Accessories and Millinery cohort together from the outset of their studies. Please select the specialism on the online application form.
