Service Design for Social Housing
The Studio-Lab’s treatment of social housing, as a service, involves examining new models of social housing provision. The work already undertaken by Helena Trippe comprises interviews with residents, developers, housing associations, construction companies and architects, as well as local authority agencies associated with housing and social services. A conceptual framework has been developed that provides insights into the value chain and the role of the key stakeholders and their interactions in the provision of social housing. The research indicates a set of issues that are common across the case studies and suggests the requirement for, as well as the likely attributes of, new models for social housing provision. These may involve digital technology in the nature of the social housing service provision, the infrastructure provided, specific services and their operation.
