The Research Committee, chaired by the Director of Research, is responsible for all aspects of RCA staff and student research, including the implementation of the College Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy and funding and recruitment initiatives.
All members of academic staff at the College are expected to engage in research, calculated to advance and underpin the subject that they teach and to make public the results of that research. The Research Committee reviews the quality and quantity of the research being carried out by each member of staff and ensures that deadlines are met. It monitors the Research Grant pipeline and sets targets for and monitors the level of external research grant income from public and private funders. For more information, see the Membership and Role of the Research Committee.
The Research Committee ensures that research conducted at the RCA does not breach the College’s Research Ethics Code of Practice.
Academic staff are eligible to apply for support through a Research Remission scheme and support from the Research Development Fund (RDF). The Staff Committee, in consultation with the Research Committee, confirms the allocation of days released from College activities to enhance the research of individual members of staff.
All research student activities are coordinated and monitored by the Research Office: the selection, admission, induction, training, including the Research Methods Course for all first-year research students, supervisory arrangements, interim review of progress and final viva-voce examination.
Please contact the Research Office if you require further information on any of these procedures.
