Path increases confidence when walking. Taking inspiration from patients with multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease, Path aims to create greater independence for patients and carers. Visual and tactile cues are used to trigger movement and provide enhanced proprioception. Sustained walking benefits users by increasing their abilities and reducing social isolation.
Judges' comments:
"The project should be an inspiration to all
medical device companies because it puts the user at the centre of solution
creation.”
Brian Firth, MIE Medical Research
"More older people than will admit it have problems with walking. This
innovative design has the potential to address the problem.”
Lady Hamlyn
