Kathleen Reilly is a Scottish metalsmith. Her work explores expectations of contemporary dining practice, designing and making subversive tablewares. Reilly has exhibited and worked internationally and across the UK. Recent projects include a collaboration with Steinbeisser's Experimental Gastronomy in Amsterdam and a nomination for the Talente Award in Munich.
Graduating from the Royal College of Art Jewellery & Metalwork programme in 2018 she was the recipient of the Theo Fennell 'Overall Excellence' Award for her show titled ‘the kitchen is the gallery is the kitchen’. Stemmed from an inner conflict, the desire to make both functional products and artistic sculptures. The collection presented a flux of two things and bridged both passions, with a focus on the power of material and composition to shift entrenched understandings.
Reilly continues to develop new methods and strategies for creating through text and object reinventing the common place with elegant and often witty outcomes that can carry ambiguous functions.
