Harnessing kinetic energy from flowing water to generate electricity

Lunagen is an innovative energy hardware startup whose technology harnesses kinetic energy from flowing water to generate electricity. The company’s simple and robust technology was originally conceived to generate power in waters with low-velocity flows, which currently represent an under-exploited energy resource in developed and developing countries alike. By targeting this segment of the renewable energy marketplace, Lunagen will provide a lower cost value proposition to energy suppliers and their consumers.

Currently, Lunagen is conducting a market survey to determine which segment of the hydrokinetic renewable energy sector to target first.

Lunagen's founding team includes two brothers, Will and Tim Penfold, and their lifelong friend Paul Noble. They were joined by Lauren Dickerson, an electric utility consultant completing her MBA at Imperial College. All four founders have professional backgrounds in maritime business and engineering, as well as a passion for the sailing and sustainable energy development.

Lunagen's Will Penfold was awarded an InnovationRCA Patent Fellowship in 2016.

Lunagen are an UnLtd Seechange Award winner.
