Royal College of Art student collective ‘JAM’ to exhibit at Munich Jewellery Week 2018
A group of Royal College of Art students will display their work in a rare and roving jewellery and object exhibition during Munich Jewellery Week which runs from 5 - 13 March 2018.
The 20 Master’s students have been studying the Royal College of Art’s (RCA) renowned Jewellery & Metal programme which is distinguished by its experimental approach to exploring jewellery and object forms, and the diversity of its students’ creations.
These students, many of them international artists and designers, have formed a collective known as ‘JAM’ standing for jewellery and metal. The collective aims to challenge commonly held beliefs of culture, identity and the human condition through their work and this will be reflected in the I BELIEVE… exhibition.
The exhibition is a guerrilla-style installation where the students will display 20 mini-exhibition cases of experimental work that will travel the streets of Munich. These portable cases will intercept pedestrian traffic and present artworks to curious passers-by with the aim of introducing JAM’s ideas to a wider audience.
I BELIEVE… will self-assemble and dismantle to change location, reassembling across Munich for 8 - 11 March, 2018. This exhibition will appear on the peripheries of the Pinakothek der Moderne, Academy of Fine Arts, Kunstpavillon, the Lovelace Hotel and Marienplatz.
The exhibition is just one of the many exciting events during Munich Jewellery Week which welcomes hundreds of makers, students, educators and collectors from across the globe with its diverse programme. Munich Jewellery Week takes place during the annual Handwerk & Design expo, and its historic jewellery exhibition: Meister der Moderne, Schmuck and Talente.
