Show RCA 2013 to Visit Christie's

2 July 2013 – A selection of work from the Royal College of Art's graduate show, Show RCA 2013, will be exhibited at London auction house Christie's next week.

21st Century Art and Design – RCA 2013, has been curated by Professor Ute Meta Bauer, Dean of School of Fine Art; Philippe Garner, Christie's director of twentieth century decorative art and photographs and Jeremy Morrison, senior director of twentieth century decorative art and design, and includes more than 50 works and projects selected from the College's recent graduate show.

Works from Textiles, Fine Art, Design Products, Ceramics & Glass and Vehicle Design will be on show. Playfully responding to the context of an auction house, the exhibition will engage directly with Christie’s specific sales categories, their boundaries and ascribed definitions.

How can one categorise a pair of shoes cast in bronze or a plate embroidered in silk? In this light, the exhibition’s methodology is informed directly by RCA students whose interdisciplinary works and projects question existing categories and taxonomies and challenge the frontiers between art and design, object and art work.

Selected students include:

Christos Antonopoulos (Architecture), Paloma Strelitz (Architecture), Diana Elia (Architecture), Mella Shaw (Ceramics & Glass), Livvy Fink (Ceramics and Glass), Jonathan Wade (Ceramics & Glass), Bertrand Clerc (Design Interactions), Min Su Kim (Design Interactions), Mauricio Affonso (Design Products), Kosuke Araki (Design Products), Zhenhan Hao (Design Products), Nichaolas Gardner & David Horan (Design Products), Elena Blank (Fashion Womenswear), Rachel Jui Chi Chang (Fashion Womenswear), Seung Yeon Jee (Fashion Womenswear), Iva Minkova (Fashion Womenswear), Fflur Cadwaladr Owen (Fashion Womenswear), Lucie Vincini (Fashion Menswear), Eunhyuk Choi (Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery), Danyi Zhu (Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery), Inderjeet Sandhu (Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery), James Stoklund (Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery), Joanne Wardrop (Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery), Daniel Woodford (Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork & Jewellery), Yuta Sugawara (Innovation Design Engineering), Jack Brindley (Painting), Lucas Clayton (Painting), Cristina Cojanu (Painting), Zoe de Soumagnat (Painting), Charlotte Develter (Painting), Luke Diiorio (Painting), Freya Douglas-Morris (Painting), Gabriel Lima (Painting), Catherine Parsonage (Painting), Sarah Jones (Painting), Emanuel Rohss (Painting), Julio Galeote (Photography), Patrick Hough (Photography), Ryan Moule (Photography), Joanna Piotrowska (Photography), Luci Eldridge (Printmaking), Frank Leuwer (Printmaking), Echo Morgan (Printmaking), Helle Kingbird Bjerregaard (Sculpture), Javier Toro Blum (Sculpture), Anton Burdakov (Sculpture), Petr Davydtchenko (Sculpture), Noga Inbar & Louise Ashcroft (Sculpture), Lucy Joyce (Sculpture), Luisa Mota (Sculpture), Julie Behseta (Textiles), Nina Born (Textiles), Henry Hussey (Textiles), Claire Felicity Miller (Textiles) & Louise Bennetts (Fashion Womanswear), Florence Spurling (Textiles), Ewan Gallimore (Vehicle Design), Kyoung Soo Na (Vehicle Design), Yeni Kim (Visual Communications), Jessica Morgan (Visual Communications), Sasa Stucin (Visual Communications)
