Message to 2021 winter graduates from the Vice-Chancellor

Many congratulations to the 215 RCA students graduating today, including 12 PhD, 45 MRes, 118 MA, 29 GradDip and 11 PgDip!

The whole College today celebrates your achievements amongst one of the most challenging years that many of us can remember. Your ability to adapt and pivot your practice to produce astonishing work and research outcomes is a credit to each and every one of you. It really does exemplify the spirit of the ingenuity of our RCA student body.

It’s really exciting to see you, our 2021 winter graduates from 33 countries right across the world, be conferred the very well-deserved degrees you receive today. I continue to be inspired by your flair and resilience, and have great confidence in your abilities to embrace future challenges and thrive in whatever path you choose to pursue.

Although sadly we are not able to be together today at the Royal Geographical Society, as we all would have liked, I hope that you are each able to take this moment to celebrate your accomplishments.

I very much look forward to being able to celebrate with you in person at a future date once restrictions allow us to get together again. In the meantime, wherever you are in the world, I hope you are celebrating your achievements in your own way today.

Dr Paul Thompson, Vice-Chancellor
