Women of Wandsworth
5 February 2018 to 11 February 2018 | Mon–Fri: 9.30am – 5.30pm, Sat: 12-5pm
Battersea, Dyson Building
Women of Wandsworth shares the stories of five extraordinary local women working in different fields, who are inspiring and influencing the community around them. From sport, art & history, to education and activism, these five heroes are shaping their diverse communities by bringing people together, making connections stronger and inspiring people to engage in determining the future of Wandsworth.
Local residents, community groups and charities have all been involved in nominating the inspiring women chosen for this project. Â
WOW builds on Spare Tyre’s previous project Over The Road which revealed the stories of 15 inspirational women living in Roehampton, from the 18th Century to the present day. Â
We hope that this new exhibition will inspire Wandsworth residents and that it will be an opportunity for local communities from different corners of the borough to meet and connect.Â
Spare Tyre is one of the UK's leading participatory arts charities, with 40 years experience of producing bold and powerful arts with voiceless communities. They aim to use innovative arts to challenge prejudice and transform lives, enabling unheard stories to be shared.Â
