The School of Arts & Humanities Fiction Research Group have been thinking through practice-led research methods around ‘inhabiting’ fictional narratives that can lead to empathic and embodied modes of reading. Emerging from this is a talk from Dickie Beau, the UK’s leading lip synching artist and performer. He is widely celebrated for the virtuosity of his work and is best known for breathing new life into the drag tradition of lip synching though his distinctive playback performances, as well as winning praise for his work as an actor.
Beau has received multiple awards, including The Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust Award. In 2017, he was joint winner of Best Supporting Male Actor in the Off West End Theatre Awards. He recently completed filming on the feature film Colette, written and directed by Wash Westmoreland.
