Sustain Talks: We-Build: Powering Communities through Co-creation
25 March 2015 | 6.30pm 8.30pm
Battersea, Gorvy Lecture Theatre
Join Sustain Talks as we explore how youth unemployment, affordable housing, rising energy bills and mounting food waste are becoming the vehicles to develop local skills and enterprise, and meet the people helping make this happen.
Agamemnon Otero is the CEO of Repowering London, an organisation seeding solar energy co-ops across the capital's communities in Brixton, Hackney and Vauxhall. Rokiah Yaman and LeapAD are fostering small-scale urban anaerobic digestion, turning waste food into biogas, a clean fuel used to generate electricity and heat. It has the potential to help schools and other organisations tackle food waste sustainably while reducing waste transport emissions, methane from landfill, and other benefits. Jackson Moulding is the director of EcoMotive, a Bristol-based social enterprise that facilitates community self-build projects through access to land, connecting individuals, fostering sustainable construction skills.
– with Clementine Blakemore, MA Architecture, Royal College of Art and Hege Sæbjornsen, consultant and engagement manager at UnLtd as chair.
