Our Place in the World - 2017 challenged participants to find the most innovative solutions to address the theme of The Future of Work, seeking answers to questions raised by the rapidly changing job market, working patterns, demographics and technology. Deputy Leader of the Labour Party Tom Watson MP launched the inaugural year with support from his far-reaching Commission on the Future of Work. There were a wide variety of entries which were eventually whittled down to two winners who were awarded a £15,000 investment in their business, a year on the InnovationRCA Incubator programme with ongoing advice and support from Unltd.

We are delighted to announce that our two entrepreneurs Zahra Davidson & Harrison Moore will present their outstanding, award-winning ideas on the evening of September 21st. Please join us to hear from the two of them and to hear about next year’s regeneration challenge, Our Place in the World 2018: The Future of Grimsby.

This year we are partnering with North East Lincolnshire Council to invite designers, innovators & social entrepreneurs to submit their ideas on what the future of this historic seaport could be. As in the previous year entries will be welcomed from all parts of the community and local people are especially encouraged to submit ideas. We are seeking the best responses to the challenges the community faces to help make lasting change for the people of Grimsby.

The challenge seeks the best ideas in response to this theme to win a £15,000 investment plus a year at the InnovationRCA incubator and ongoing support and mentoring from UnLtd. The Award is open to everyone and no idea is too small or too radical.

Our panel of guest speakers includes:

Lord Adonis: Chairman of the National Infrastructure Commission, academic, journalist and former Minister of State for Education
Angela Blake: Director of Economy and Growth at North East Lincolnshire Council
Darren Bolton: Director and social entrepreneur, UnLtd Award Winner
Neale Coleman: Former Labour Party head of policy
Dr Nadia Danhash: Director, InnovationRCA

The panel will be Chaired by Helen Hamlyn Chair of Design, Professor Jeremy Myerson with further participants to be announced.
