Materials Lab: Materiality/Material Culture in Creative Practice

21 November 2019 | 6pm – 8pm

Battersea, Gorvy Lecture Theatre

Free

Artist Dr Bharti Parmar speaks to the question: what might materials led practice look like?

Join her in conversation with Dr Christine Checinska, Dr Shehnaz Suterwalla and Jo Pickering.

Dr Bharti Parmar is an artist and academic whose Master's degree in Printmaking at the RCA (1992) has been a springboard for her interest in material cultures.

During a practice of over 25 years she has developed an interest in taxonomy, geometry and pattern, with her recent practice focusing on veneers and subversion of marquetry techniques. She featured on ITV’s logo rebranding project #ITVCreates earlier this year.

Bharti will be discussing recent projects and showing 'behind the scenes' films which demystify her process of making.
