Material Culture and Design Research

2 June 2020 | 2pm – 5pm

This event will be facilitated via Zoom.

This session looks at the archaeology and history of things, but also the different technologies that define them and their design. Spatial design and research into its practices often deals with physical objects and the technological means of making them. What are the different methods through which they can be analysed and what do the outcomes of analysis mean for design research?

Speakers:

  • Don Slater (Associate Professor (Reader) in Sociology, LSE)
  • Paul Basu (Professor of Anthropology, SOAS, University of London)
  • Ben Highmore (Professor of Cultural Studies, University of Sussex)
