Kimono Bash RCA

28 February 2020 | 5.30pm – 8.30pm

Kensington, Senior Common Room

The Kimono Magic Society is bringing experts, stylists and makers together for one night at the RCA to explore the culture of the kimono.

For this unique event, academics will join the creators behind Rumi Rock, Modern Antenna, Tamao Shigemune and Iroca to explore and experience the contemporary kimono. There will be opportunities to try on kimonos and obis with photo booths available, customise your own creations and listen to experts in our Kimono in Conversation panel with Kimono researcher and stylist Sheila Cliffe, fashion historians Sarah Cheang and Elizabeth Kramer and designer Clare Johnston on topics including cultural appropriation.
