We are the longest-running research centre at the Royal College of Art, and a global leader in Inclusive Design, Design Thinking and Creative Leadership, undertaking practice-based design research and projects with industry. Our approach is inclusive and interdisciplinary and places people at the heart of the work, whether we are designing safer health services, addressing social challenges or creating products and services that are inclusive of age and diversity. Since 1999, through our Research Associate programme, we have employed RCA graduates on over 300 projects with over 100 organisations including businesses, charities and the public sector .
This lecture is an introduction to The Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design, with talks on Inclusive Design and Creative Leadership, as well as different ways students can engage with us during, and after, their time at the RCA and information about the annual Helen Hamlyn Design Awards for students graduating in the 2020/21 academic year.
'Working alongside a multidisciplinary team on meaningful projects is why the Helen Hamlyn Centre is such a special environment. As a Global Innovation Design alumnus from the RCA I wanted to be involved in hands on social impact post-graduation and found the centre to be a thriving hub that revolves around people-centred design where I can make a real significant change.'
Imran Nazerali, HHCD Research Associate.
