American-British designer Tyen Masten is founding director of PHASE3, a place to inspire communities, clients and architects to make generous and meaningful architecture. Known for his ability to move between the creative, practical and the academic, Tyen taught within the famed unit system of the Architectural Association (2005–17) where he led research on how subculture and counterculture can inform new programmatic approaches and building forms. During his tenure at Zaha Hadid Architects (2004–12) he successfully led the design on a multitude of projects in the Middle East and across the UK.
