Film Night Series: I, Daniel Blake
21 March 2017 | 6.30pm
Battersea, Gorvy Lecture Theatre
I, Daniel Blake by Ken Loach (2016), presented by Declan Colquitt. Loach goes where others can’t or won’t: depicting the plight of those hardest hit by Britain’s heartless austerity regime – in particular Dave Johns’s geordie carpenter, whose “fit for work” assessment puts him through the bureaucratic wringer. No misery-fest (nor liberal guilt-trip), it’s rousing and very moving.
Food Bank Collection
During the week of 20–24 March we are collecting food bank donations on behalf of the Trussell Trust. Donations to be dropped off at the entrance of the Woo Building with Martin Howe.
Urgently needed: tinned fruit, vegetables and meat, long life milk and juice, sugar, pasta sauce (in jars), non-refrigerated puddings, toiletries.
