Designers’ Symposium Series: Alexa Pollmann
13 March 2017 | 5.30pm
Kensington, Lecture Theatre 1
Alexa Pollmann explores informations, interactions and cultures bound to the human body. She describes her work as Design-Culturing and believes garments to be social reactors that have the power to create vision. Working on the fringes of fashion, she uses garments, dance performance and mixed media to create worlds and crafts characters of parallel realities or desirable futures that often represent a political trend or tendency.
Pollmann founded the Peut-Porter Platform to collaborate with designers, artists and others who share her interest in body-centric design. She currently leads the MA Wearable Futures at Ravensbourne College and was also Designer in Residence at the Design Museum in 2015.
