Designing at the Base of a Pyramin
Since its inception in 2005, the three-week annual Innovation Design Engineering project has fostered cross-cultural collaborations with the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad; the University of Technology, Sydney; and Tsinghua University, Beijing among many others – supporting design work that tackles regional or national scale issues. GoGlobal has used design thinking to explore how Thai craftspeople might innovate in global mass markets; how Ghanian artisans might use e-commerce and design collaboration to grow its creative industries; and to find enterprise opportunities in China’s shifting migration from rural to urban centres.
This year's GoGlobal saw students and staff from IDE travel to South Africa, and the exhibition celebrates the work that resulted from collaborations there.
Private View: 6pm, 9 May 2016, Courtyard Galleries, Darwin Building.
