ARC 2020: THE DIRTY ISSUE Live Readings streaming on Twitch

9 July 2020 | 7pm – 8pm

This event will be live-streamed via Twitch. URL below.

Join RCA writers and artists for a night of readings on Twitch to celebrate the launch of ARC 2020: THE DIRTY ISSUE.  With Charlie Fox, Juliet Jacques & June Caldwell alongside students of the Royal College of Art.

The Royal College of Art’s International Magazine ARC is back with THE DIRTY ISSUE this year. An exploration through the filth into all that is foul yet perhaps, fair. It seeks to corrupt and conspire, disgust and devour everything in its wake.

Curated by MA Writing students at the RCA, ARC,  THE DIRTY ISSUE consists of both print and digital components that respond to the strangeness and muckiness of our times. Featuring work by students, staff, and a line up of external contributors including Wayne Kostenbaum, Charlie Fox, Travis Alabanza, June Caldwell and Juliet Jacques, to name but a few.  THE DIRTY ISSUE is a collection of writing and visual art that dwells beneath the stinking, sinking swamp of a collapsing environment, beneath the rotten fingernails of power and the stained sheets of the deviant.  A murky cacophony of voices rejoicing in the abject;  ARC 2020 positions itself at the rusty razor edge of contemporary writing and visual culture.

ARC began in 2004 in response to the long hiatus of the College’s renowned ARK magazine, which ran from 1950 to 1978. Editors change with each annual issue, gesturing at the ways in which the magazine strives to reflect – in its content as well as its design – the RCA’s wide array of practitioners and practices. It exists to provide a platform for the RCA’s top talent (students, staff and alumni) to engage in exciting theoretical debate, dip their toes in the waters of writing and continually refresh and reinterpret the form of printed matter. For the first time in its long history, ARC 2020 will be published online, with exclusive digital content, to be followed later on in a print version that responds to the moment in which it has been produced.
