  • Biography

  • Tim was born in Auckland, New Zealand and studied Industrial Design at Victoria University in Wellington. Upon graduating he began working for Auckland based product design consultancy Formworks, whose work ranges from packaging and industrial goods to medical products and transport interiors. It was at Formworks that Tim was involved in the ground breaking Air New Zealand long haul interior redesign, which won numerous accolades for the National carrier and proved to be one of the most disruptive airline seating products in recent times.

After relocating to London in 2008, he was employed by award winning design consultancy Priestmangoode. There he was involved in numerous projects, mostly in the transport industry, for clients including Airbus, CSR Sifang, BT, Turkish Airlines, and Embraer.

In 2011 Tim was employed by British Designer Tom Dixon, initially as Senior Designer and then as Design Manager, leading a small but highly productive team responsible for designing the brand’s furniture, lighting and accessories. It was here that Tim was able to really develop his affinity for materials and manufacturing processes, being in a position to follow a project right from briefing to the factory and then the shop floor.

Most recently he was Design Director for product design at Conran and Partners, the multidisciplinary design studio founded by Sir Terence Conran. Projects Tim has led at Conran and Partners include furniture, brassware, sanitaryware, and luggage as well as consultancy projects for international electronics brands.

In 2015 he formed Tim Rundle Studio Limited and began working on projects for leading international brands. Projects undertaken so far include lighting, sports equipment, furniture and interiors.
