Simon’s work embraces furniture, accessories, installation and consultancy and generates international editorial interest, with clients including Fendi, Linley and W Hotels.
With ten years prior experience in brand communication, Simon combines creative and strategic thinking with a belief in the power of design to tell brand stories. He has been a Designer in Residence at the Design Museum, London, and was featured in the major V&A publication 21 Twenty One: 21 Designers for Twenty-first Century Britain – a celebration of the new generation of British design talent.
Simon’s work has received two Wallpaper* Design Awards (Fendi 2012, Linley 2014), and his work is in the permanent collections of the British Crafts Council, Gewerbe Museum (Switzerland) and Fondazione Fendi (Italy).
School, Centre or Area
Equally comfortable with designing for the one or the 1000, Simon runs an eponymous furniture and accessories brand, which is distributed through international retailers. The designs link crafts processes and industrial production to create objects with a story to tell.
Graft Collection, Linley (2013)
A collection of tables and consoles which are an irreverent take on fine cabinet-making. The pieces celebrate the natural imperfections of timber through complex marquetry which depicts splits, shakes and cracks in aluminium, brass and eucalyptus.
A Design Products graduate, Simon’s innovative use of materials embraces both ancient craft and industrial processes.
