  • Seetal Solanki is the Founder and Director of materials research design studio Ma-t-ter and a Visiting Tutor on the Interior Design programme at the Royal College of Art.

    In addition to this Seetal is also a Visiting Tutor on Information Experience Design at the Royal College of Art School of Communication.  

  • Biography

  • Seetal holds an MA in Textile Futures from Central Saint Martins where she explored how textiles can influence a space.

    Since graduating she went onto work for studios and brands such as Nissan, United Visual Artists, Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, NIKE and Puma.

    This cross-sector approach enabled her to see the potential of materials and how they all connect to each other shaping the immediate, near and far future.

  • Ma-tt-er is a research design studio that explores the past, present and future of materials. Working across industry and education we advise and implementing a more responsible use of materials. Most materials have an infinite lifecycle. They can be re-used, reformed and redesigned with a new purpose. By harnessing the unexplored potential of materials we can implement social, economic and political change through a cross sector approach.

    Clients include SPACE10, the Design Museum, Red Deer Architects, The Future Laboratory, DAZED, Selfridges, G. F Smith, FRAME Magazine, Wolff Olins, Iceland Academy of the Arts, Molonglo Group, Stella Artois, water.org, Space Doctors, Viewpoint Magazine and PUIG.
