- Interior Design
Dr Tania Lopez-Winkler is a visiting tutor in the Interior Design programme in the School of Architecture. She brings her wide range of art and design practice to contribute with a creative teaching of the Interior Design field. Students are encouraged to be curious, to follow intuitions, and to challenge habits of thought: nothing is too big or too small provided the right attitude and work ethic is brought to the table.
Dr. Tania López Winkler is an architect and exhibiting artist based in London. Her interests are focused on the liminal space between interior space and city (as enacted in detective fiction and manifested in architecture). Her photographs and art installations have been exhibited and published internationally. In 2015 she received the Latin UK Award Visual Artist of the Year.Show more
Tania holds architecture degrees from ITESM in Mexico, an M.A. in Housing and Urbanism from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, where she was also granted a Ph.D. for her thesis “The Detective of Modern Life.”
Tania has taught and lectured in various institutions in Europe and America. Her teaching experience started in 2002 at ITESM campus Estado de México and Querétaro in México. From 2006 to 2018 she was visiting lecturer at the London Metropolitan University in the department of Architecture and Interior Architecture. During 2007 and 2008, she ran the undergraduate Histories & Theories Seminar at the Architectural Association School of Architecture. And since 2016 she is also a visiting lecturer at Westminster University.
Tania is the founder director of the international art, architecture and design AAD.agency. Her practice explores the alter-ego as means to enquire different aspects of modernity and the notion of ‘the normal’ through different media and creative outcomes. As she investigates ‘the normal’ her work uncovers the world of fantasy poetic imperfections embedded in the quotidian.
