  • Dr Aurore Julien is a technical tutor in Architecture at the RCA. She supports students in developing their technical studies.

  • Biography

  • Dr Aurore Julien is a technical tutor in Architecture at the RCA and a senior lecturer in building environmental design at UEL. She has been a consultant in relation to green and energy efficient buildings for 15 years prior to that.  Aurore has worked on a wide ranges of projects in the UK and overseas, mostly in an advisory capacity.

    Her first job was as environmental designer in BDSP, where she designed energy efficient buildings and renewable and low carbon energy systems. This involved the simulation of daylight, natural ventilation, energy use and carbon impacts of systems and buildings. She then headed the sustainability team of the engineering consultancy Whitbybird – now called Ramboll. She has  also worked with Ken Yeang for a couple of years on a variety of international projects on bioclimatic strategies. Following this she spent a few years freelancing and on short contracts, whilst also completing a PhD and providing various seminars and lectures.

    In her spare time, Aurore carries out environmental assessment of outdoor events and festivals including the environmental assessment of Glastonbury festival. Her research interests relate to environmental design in architecture, energy security and events environmental impacts.
