Glass artist Anna Dickinson is a Visiting Lecturer in the School of Arts & Humanitites, on the Ceramics & Glass programme. She provides tutorials to students, advising them on technical and aesthetic considerations. She is keen to help students think creatively, develop ideas and strive towards originality in their thinking.
Anna Dickinson graduated from the Royal College of Art in 1985, where she completed an MA specialising in metal and glass. Before this she completed a BA in 3D Design at Middlesex University where she began to work with glass and began her interest in combining this practice with an exploration of metal.Show more
Since then, she has exhibited widely in solo and group shows. Her work can be seen in museums and private collections across the world including The V&A, London; Corning Museum, New York; the Museum of Modern Art Kyoto and the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. Dickinson also carries out private commissions and previous clients have included functional ware for Royalty and hair ornaments for fashion designer Romeo Gigli.
Dickinson is represented by Galerie von Bartha in Basle, Switzerland.
Anna Dickinson has run her studio in London since 1986. She produces one-off art works in glass and metal. Dickinson researched electroforming on to glass whilst carrying out her MA at the Royal College of Art in the 1980s, influencing her ongoing practice. She also combines other materials with glass, for example wood and plastics. She uses several coldworking processes including cutting and polishing. Dickinson’s production results in approximately 12 pieces a year.
