Mobility & Exchanges

The Royal College of Art supports mobility through either the Erasmus+ programme or through individual agreements with partner institutions.

Erasmus+ is the European Union programme for education, training, youth and sport.

The Royal College of Art’s (RCA) vision, as outlined in the Strategic Plan 2016-21 is to remain the world’s number one art and design university through its strategic goals of expansion, diversification and impact.

In support of this vision the College’s Internationalisation Strategy is to develop a range of international partnerships based on the following core values:

  • a commitment to mutuality;
  • that internationalisation should be transformational and not transactional;
  • that creative education is enriched by intercultural exchange and collaboration;
  • all members of the RCA community are ‘international’ not only those who come from outside the UK to study or work.
  • providing opportunities for RCA students and staff to study and/ or work abroad as part of their experience is a core part of our offer and the Erasmus+ programme helps to provide these opportunities.

Incoming exchange students and staff are also welcome at the RCA.

Student Exchange and Traineeships

Students can study at one of our partner institutions or undertake a traineeship in Erasmus+ participating countries.

Students can also undertake an exchange at one of our non-Erasmus partner institutions. For more information on those exchanges that fall outside the Erasmus programme, please refer to the Student Exchanges and Study Leave page of the intranet.

Staff Teaching and/or Training Experiences

Staff can pursue identified professional development experiences in any of the Erasmus+ participating countries.

If a mobility experience is approved, all staff and students, whether incoming or outgoing, are recommended to inform their receiving institution of any disability that may affect their work.
